Magnetic separator

Application

Magnetic separator MS is designed to remove magnetic and small-crystalic sludge from a liquid. Magnetic sludge is composed of molecules with very fine texture and can only be removed from the liquid using magnetic method. Small-crystalic sludge is present in the liquid as a by-product of non-chemical water treatment that dissolves old limescale layers and other solid particles. Magnetic separator is used to protect boilers, heat exchangers, cooling circuits, water/heat pumps and water pipe fittings. Magnetic separator MS is designed to extract:

  • magnetic sludge composed of molecules of very fine texture that is practically impossible to get rid of using any other but magnetic method
  • small-crystalic sludge created by the effects of non-chemical water treatment on old limescale layers
  • particles created by corrosion of the system
  • other solid particles and gasses from liquids

Magnetic separator removes magnetic sludge from the liquid with over 98% efficiency, impurities with 60-80% efficiency, depending on the particle density. Default position of the separator is vertical and its operation and maintenance are very easy. It is designed to work under operation pressure of 0.6 or 1.6 MPa and 110°C. Optimal flow rate is 0.5 to 1.5 m3/s.

How it works

Magnetic separator MS eliminates solid particles from the liquid by using its magnetic forces on the flowing liquid. The excretion occurs in a cylindrical vessel due to the action of magnetic forces on the sludge in the flowing liquid. Greater impurities fall to the bottom of the separator, from where they are cyclically discharged. At the top of the MS there is a degassing valve that automatically releases the free gases from the liquid. The separator is normally equipped with a ball valve and counter flanges. Automatic sludge drainage is only available as an extra equipment.

Servicing and maintenance of the device

Magnetic separator needs to be serviced by regular removal of sludge and regular cleaning every 10-15 days, with the exception of the first month. It is also necessary to regularly check watertight integrity of devices’ joints.
